ADVANCED CONSTRUCTION MANAGAEMENT USING BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING (BIM)

Purpose:

The purpose of the course is to impart advanced concepts in construction management in order to apply such concepts in the built environment. The aim is also to make students familiar with use of software/IT to integrate stakeholders in a construction project. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is an intelligence used to create multi-dimensional models to aid design, construct, manage and operate projects. BIM opens lines of communication in an unprecedented manner. BIM is not a software or tool; it is a protocol that elevates the maturity of the project organization and its associated enterprises when used. Learning outcome:

  • Recognize, define and describe some advanced concepts in construction management
  • Have a comprehensive, systematic and integrated knowledge of advanced construction management
  • Know the use of recent Software/IT to integrate stakeholders in a construction project

  • A coherent and critical understanding of the principles and scope of advanced construction management
