Current time in Tanzania (Dar es Salaam):
The huge, expansive plains of Tanzania hold one of the largest, and definitely wildest, animal populations in the world. You can consider this country to be one of the best places to visit for animal safaris and backpacking adventures. Among the many animals you can expect to find lion, crocodile, wildebeest, monkeys, elephant and many more! Apart from the famous Mount Kilimanjaro, also worth a visit are Jozani Forest, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Selous Game Reserve and the well-known Serengeti National Park.
For an incredibly romantic honeymoon we highly recommend the gorgeous island of Zanzibar, just 30 kms off the Tanzanian coast, in the warm Indian ocean.

When to go
Tanzania is great to visit throughout the four seasons. Peak tourist seasons run in July-August and again in December-January (a much hotter time to visit). If it's the Serengeti you're after don't go in the dry season (August), as most of the animals have migrated to Kenya. Starting in April more than 2 million wildebeest migrate northwards across the Serengeti's plainis, accompanied by zebras, antelopes, lions and (of course) tourists.
The rainy season runs from March to June, so if you're going to Zanzibar you may want to wait until it's a bit drier and the ocean waters are clearer.
